• The city life is vibrant and upbeat, one could refer to it as the heartbeat of any town. In the Mother City, you will find this heartbeat in the middle of the CBD. With delightful corners of energy and a mix of culture, there’s a rhythm that one cannot deny.
During the day this urbanized hub has a variety of clothing shops, cafes, and eateries and at night it transforms into an eclectic hub of sound that booms from every venue with a blend of people enjoying what the nightlife has to offer.
Nestled on Loop Street is where you will find ‘House of H.’ Upon walking in, you feel as though you have taken a step back in time with the funky interior decorated with furniture that has been recycled and upcycled with a wonderful dining experience to boot. It’s hard to imagine that this eatery was a parking lot before owners, Heinrich Koen and Christina (fondly known as Poppie) decided to convert it into one of the most delicious and welcoming eateries of note.
Heinrich used to be the Executive Chef at Madame Zingara before going solo with ‘House of H’ and embarking on this journey with his wife. His love for food and the deliciousness that comes from the flavors he chooses is what makes this establishment so special and with the right pricing, it’s a recipe for greatness. You can choose delicious meaty options or if you love your veg dishes as much as I do, he has an oyster burger that will keep you coming back for more.
I was lucky enough to be able to capture a few images at this venue and will definitely make a turn here soon again.
So if you find yourself wandering around the Mother City and not sure where you should go, make a trip to ‘House of H’ and enjoy the best of what Cape Town has to offer.
