Tv and radio presenter, DJ, blogger, MC, producer and environmental leader, Kia Johnson has graced our screens and airwaves with her energetic and engaging personality in an effortless way we have come to know and adore.


As Ambassador for WWF South Africa, the World Wide Fund for Nature she is actively involved in many environmental campaigns which showcases her love for nature. In the recent #PlasticFreeMzanzi initiative she won ‘Most Influential Plastic Free Mzanzi Campaigner’ for 2019.


Kia has also been listed as one of the top environmental influencers in the country by Treeshake for 2019 and has been involved in other campaigns such as Greenpop's 'plant a tree' and the recent recycling campaign with MPact Recycling.


She’s also been responsible for helping list Table Mountain as one of the 7 wonders of nature, a huge achievement for Cape Town and South Africa.


After studying at the University of the Western Cape for a BCom in Human Resources Management, she began her radio and broadcasting career. Since her debut, she has interviewed and met a range of local and international personalities, such as Chef Gordan Ramsay, Pastry Chef extraordinaire Eric Lanlard and English actor and comedian John Cleese, to name but a few.                                                  


A familiar face to TV and known for her fun loving way, Kia has presented and produced for the Expresso Morning Show on SABC3, and as Radio and Traffic Presenter she’s hosted on various platforms such as Radio 2000, MetroFM, SAfm, KFM and GoodhopeFM.


Kia is currently a Sweet Beats DJ Ambassador for the Strawberry Lips Tequila Sweet Beats Campaign. This is the first proudly South African online platform dedicated to inspire women and up and coming DJs by showcasing tips and tricks of the industry and connecting with other sista’s.

Always keeping in touch with positive engagement she has launched her new You Tube show ‘It’s Your Time’ showcasing entrepreneurs within local communities and illustrating how they give back.


In 2017, Kia was a key contributor and maintained second place in the world for the HeardPSA initiative, which was coordinated in partnership with CNN and the Global Sustainability Network. The prestigious judging panel included the likes of Wesley Snipes, Joseph Fiennes, Olivier Martinez and feature film director Philip Boston. The focus for the initiative was on human trafficking to highlight ‘My Freedom Day.’ In 2019 the same Heard PSA won Best Director, Best Documentary and Best Film in the 1MinuteFilmFestival in Sofia, Bulgaria.


In addition to her broadcasting prowess, Kia gives to charitable causes. She is the Goodwill Ambassador for the NGO HOPE Cape Town and also extends her time to her chosen CSI, Tygerberg Children’s Hospital. Previously she contributed to raising funds for the Children Who Can 4 Children Who Can’t campaign for TCH.

Kia is also one of the founding members for the Mycelium Media Colab a network based media company, an emerging collaborative enterprise, that uses storytelling to try and create a healthier world working within the sustainability/regenerative field.


She’s recently hosted the 21 years of conservation success for the Table Mountain Fund and was host and MC for the Financing the Future Summit which was broadcast as a podcast for the US show ‘100% Hip Hop Caucus Show’ on Climate Change. Here she shared the stage with Kumi Naidoo, the Secretary General of Amnesty International and previous head of Greenpeace, Africa.


Known for her healthy living, she’s also a Muaythai ambassador for the two-time Muaythai World Champion Quentin Chong's Dragon Power Muaythai, MMA and Fitness Centre.

Kia’s other chosen CSI is Tygerberg Children’s Hospital. She’s been involved in various fundraising projects over the past few years focusing on the Neo-Natal and Kangaroo Mother Care unit.


Having lost her Aunt to Spinal Cancer a few years back she also actively gives of her time to various causes around the disease and most recently aided in a fundraiser for a young girl from the Atlantis community diagnosed with leukaemia as well hosting the Rocking4Cancer event this year October 2017 in her role as MC.


Known for her love for healthy living she’s also a Muaythai Ambassador for two time Muaythai World Champion, Quentin Chong’s Dragon Power, Muaythai, MMA and Fitness Centre.


Kia has a background in BComm Business Management and is also a qualified Master of Ceremonies.
